O.Gin, Organic Premium Gin – Distillery Farthofer
The O.Gin from the Mostviertler organic distillery Farthofer sparkles in the glass like a brilliant, crystal clear, with a slight blue cast. On the palate, it is characterized by mild spiciness, finesse in combination with juniper and orange flavors, delicate acidity and refined sharpness in the finish.
For this unique gin organic juniper, coriander, lavender and orange peel are used, which grow in Italy and Croatia, as well as Cubeb from Indonesia.
O.Gin consists of 24 different herbs and spices – called “botanicals”. The Farthofer family attaches great importance to the refreshing note in the gin, which is why lemon and orange peels are used. However, the taste in the finished distillate must not be too intrusive and must harmonize with juniper and cilantro. Bud pepper gives the O.Gin a fine spicy note. The rest of the recipe remains their secret.
The herbs and spices are carefully weighed, mixed and macerated for several days in a high percentage of organic wheat distillate, so that the alcohol can absorb the flavors better. Subsequently, the mixture is distilled in the still. The high-proof O.Gin ripens for up to 12 months in a stainless steel container so that it can really develop its character. Before being filled in bottles the O.Gin gets mixed with rock water from the house’s own source in the Mühlviertel.
