Our St. John's walnuts are truly special – and their name already tells their story: the green walnuts are harvested around St. John's Day on June 24th, when they are still tender and soft. At this time, they contain their most valuable ingredients – a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages.
Carefully hand-picked and preserved in exquisite St. John's walnut liqueur, they develop a uniquely spicy-sweet aroma. These preserved green walnuts not only taste excellent but also stimulate fat metabolism and contribute to a general sense of well-being.
They pair perfectly with pâtés, game, and meat dishes, but also wonderfully complement vanilla ice cream, cakes, or desserts. And for those who enjoy them plain, they offer a very special taste experience – as a digestif, the famous "nut in nut."
Like all products from Nikolaihof Wachau, our St. John's walnuts are lovingly handcrafted, following biodynamic Demeter principles and with great respect for nature.
A delicate rarity with history – and a lasting pleasure.
