Natural Cosmetics FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Demeter cosmetics stands for particularly high-quality natural cosmetics with ingredients from biodynamic agriculture. Demeter goes beyond conventional organic standards: raw materials are cultivated as much as possible in harmony with natural cycles, soils are cared for particularly carefully, and synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilizers, and many highly processed auxiliary substances are not allowed.

For cosmetics, this means that the plant oils, herbal extracts, and other raw materials used come – as far as possible – from Demeter-certified cultivation. This results in products that are not only skin-friendly and natural but also support a particularly sustainable and responsible form of agriculture.

Yes, my products are based on high-quality organic and, depending on the formulation, Demeter-certified ingredients. I rely on natural raw materials from controlled ecological or biodynamic cultivation and avoid unnecessary synthetic additives.

My formulations do not contain classic fillers, aggressive surfactants, or problematic ingredients such as silicones, mineral oils, or microplastics. Instead, I use plant-based oils, natural extracts, and skin-caring active ingredients that support the skin without overwhelming it.

Grape seed oil can help the skin achieve a more even complexion, but it is not a bleaching agent and does not remove hyperpigmentation overnight. It contains valuable antioxidants, especially vitamin E and polyphenols, which can help neutralize free radicals. Free radicals are caused, among other things, by UV radiation and can promote pigment changes.

I use grape seed oil because it can support the skin barrier, make the skin smoother, and promote a more balanced complexion. For hyperpigmentation, daily sun protection is also crucial, as UV radiation can intensify existing spots and trigger new pigmentation.

My products are intentionally formulated to be gentle and are usually very well suited for sensitive skin. I rely on high-quality, natural ingredients and avoid aggressive additives that could unnecessarily irritate the skin.

Nevertheless, every skin is individual. Especially with very sensitive skin, allergies, or a compromised skin barrier, I recommend testing a new product on a small area of skin first, for example, on the inside of the forearm or behind the ear. If no redness, burning, or itching occurs after 24 hours, the product can usually be well integrated into your skincare routine.

Unopened, my products generally have a long shelf life. Once opened, you should use the products within four months, as they do not contain artificial preservatives and can spoil.

To keep your products fresh for as long as possible, you should protect them from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. It is best to store them in a cool, dry place and tightly sealed. If the smell, color, or consistency changes significantly, you should no longer use the product.

That depends heavily on the type and amount of alcohol. Alcohol is used in cosmetics for various reasons: It can help dissolve herbal active ingredients, make the formulation more stable, or make a product feel lighter and absorb faster.

Not all alcohol is automatically bad for the skin. In small amounts and in a balanced formulation, undenatured alcohol can be beneficial. If I use alcohol in a formulation, I do so intentionally and in an amount that suits the formulation. My products are designed not to unnecessarily dry out the skin, but to nourish and support it.

If nothing comes out of the pump dispenser, there is often a small amount of product left inside.

You can carefully unscrew the pump dispenser, add a little water, screw it back on, shake it, use it up - and it's best to get a new product right away!

Many of my products are vegan, but not all of them automatically are. Whether a product is vegan depends on its specific formulation. Plant oils, hydrosols, herbal extracts, and mineral components are vegan. Ingredients such as beeswax, honey, milk components, or other animal raw materials would not be.

If a product is vegan, I clearly state this for the respective product. This way, you can directly see which care products align with your personal values and needs.

Yes, my products are not tested on animals. Animal testing does not align with my values or with a responsible cosmetic philosophy. I rely on proven natural ingredients, carefully developed formulas, and high-quality standards.

It is important to note: In the EU, animal testing for cosmetic products is generally prohibited. However, for me, it's not just about legal requirements but also about the conscious handling of raw materials, supply chains, and ethical standards.

Yes, all my natural skincare products can also be used during pregnancy. However, the skin often changes during this time: it can become more sensitive, drier, or more prone to pigmentation spots.

Especially if you know you have sensitive skin, I recommend testing new products on a small area of skin first.

I use glass because I want to avoid plastic as much as possible. It is important to me not to produce new plastic unnecessarily and to choose packaging that is high-quality, durable, and easily recyclable.

Another reason is product purity: with plastic packaging, microscopic plastic particles can get into the product due to abrasion from jars, tubes, or containers. It is important to me that you receive a product that is as pure and microplastic-free as possible – not only in its formulation but also in its packaging.

Glass also protects the high-quality ingredients very well, is stable, and can be reused or recycled after use. This way, the packaging better aligns with my standards for natural, conscious, and responsible cosmetics.

No, that's not necessary – and in many cases, it's not the most ecologically sound solution either. So, you don't need to return empty glass jars to me.

It's best to reuse them, for example, in the kitchen for spices, small amounts of tea, seeds, nuts, or homemade mixes. They can also be practical in the bathroom or when traveling, for things like jewelry, small personal care products, or other small items.

If you don't want to reuse the jar, you can simply dispose of it in the glass recycling bin. This way, the glass will enter the recycling process and can be reused. Please make sure to empty the jar as thoroughly as possible beforehand and – depending on regional regulations – dispose of lids or other components separately.
