Mikroplastik: Die unsichtbare Gefahr

Microplastics: The Invisible Threat

Microplastics are the silent killer of our time. Tiny plastic particles, invisible to the naked eye, penetrate our lives in a terrifying way – and the worst part? Most people don't even know they are consuming microplastics daily! It is now found in water, air, our food, and even in our cosmetic products – but not all of them.

Microplastics don't just get into your cosmetics from packaging abrasion; they are also added to many products in solid or liquid form.

Microplastics – the invisible danger in cosmetic products

Microplastics are everywhere. They are in our water, in our air, and unfortunately also in many cosmetic products. Did you know that every week you unknowingly consume about five grams of microplastics – the weight of a credit card? The health consequences are alarming: these particles can promote inflammation in the body, stress the cardiovascular system, and even accumulate in the brain. Initial studies suggest they could contribute to neurological diseases like dementia or Parkinson's in the long term.

Microplastics enter our bodies particularly easily through cosmetic products. Lip care products, which we apply directly to our lips daily – and thus unknowingly swallow microplastics – pose a significant problem. These tiny particles can accumulate in the body and burden the metabolism. But our skin also suffers: microplastics form an invisible film on the skin, blocking the natural respiration of skin cells and potentially leading to skin problems such as blemishes, dryness, and irritation or unpleasant skin conditions in the long term. While products with synthetic polymers initially feel smooth, they eventually promote an imbalanced complexion and accelerate the aging process.

And it's not just us humans who are affected – our environment suffers just as much! Through the daily use of shower gels, shampoos, and creams containing microplastics, these tiny particles end up in wastewater, enter our soil, and ultimately our food. So we are poisoning ourselves – without even realizing it.

Why microplastics are in cosmetics at all

Basically, a distinction is made between primary and secondary microplastics. While primary microplastics are used in solid or liquid form in three-quarters of conventional cosmetic products, secondary microplastics occur due to abrasion or decomposition of packaging. The possible applications of mineral oil compounds are diverse, ranging from solid particles, for example in peels or toothpastes, to liquid compounds that are intended to influence the consistency, shelf life, and skin feel of products such as shower gels, body care, and makeup. Microplastics cannot be naturally degraded.

Primary microplastics are added directly to cosmetic products in liquid or solid form. Secondary microplastics enter your skincare through the abrasion of plastic packaging.

Many conventional cosmetic manufacturers deliberately use microplastics. It makes creams smoother, peels more pleasant, shower gels foamier, and ensures that products last longer. But for me, that's not an option! Yes, a shower gel without microplastics might foam less – but that's just a matter of habit. After just a few applications, you'll notice: Your skin feels healthier, softer, and less irritated. And the best part? You can use it with a clear conscience, without flushing microplastics into the environment!

Particularly insidious: Even natural cosmetics are not always plastic-free! Many brands that market themselves as "green" use liquid microplastics or synthetic polymers, which are just as problematic. When I founded "dieNikolai", it was clear to me: True natural cosmetics don't need plastic!

Microplastics in children's cosmetics

What particularly shocks me: Even children's cosmetics often contain microplastics! Many colorful shampoos and creams for our little ones contain a questionable mixture of plastic, fragrances, and synthetic additives. Yet, sensitive children's skin particularly needs gentle care.

My promise: 100% plastic-free natural cosmetics

I am convinced: Skincare can be different – more honest, more sustainable, and healthier. That's why I consistently refrain from using microplastics and synthetic fillers in all my products. Instead, I rely on what nature gives me:
🌿 High-quality plant oils such as grapeseed oil and saffron
🌸 Healing extracts from linden blossoms and elderberries
🍇 Pure ingredients from biodynamic cultivation

I consciously chose against microplastics – and you can too! Conventional cosmetics contain massive amounts, and even supposedly natural cosmetics are not always plastic-free. But there is an alternative: Genuine, certified natural cosmetics like my "dieNikolai" products.

100% microplastic-free, 100% natural, 100% honest!

So, what are you waiting for? Pay attention to the ingredients, opt for plastic-free care, and do something good for yourself and the environment! Your body will thank you – and so will our planet.
